————————————————————————————

A.Hamachi Basic Setup

1. Download and install hamachi

2. Allow Through Software Firewall When prompted ( Most of the time this happens once hamachi is launched for the first time or you try to join/host a game while using hamachi.

3.Go to network connections ( i assum both vista and xp users know where this is if you dont just ask)

Go to the Advanced tab ( Vista users have to press alt on the keyboard for the menu to be shown) then click advanced settings…

Inside here you will see all your network adapters listed, what you need to do here is make sure hamachi is the first adapter on the list.

If its not just select hamachi and move it all the way up .

Click Ok to save and close .

4. Go to your network connections open up hamachi check ur tcp ip settings ( TCPIPv4 for vista users) make sure eveyrhtings set to automatic detection.

Very Important - Make sure the Default Gateway is 5.0.0.1
if you cant see the default gateway area grayed with this ip click on advanced .. under default gateways add 5.0.0.1 uncheck automatic metric and key in 1500 Press OK to save and close.

5. Reboot and start hamachi again create a network and get your buddies to join in make sure all of you can ping each other successfully. Wait for atleast four tries as sometimes you will get a request time out on the first try. If you cant ping each other continue reading after Step 6

6.Some games run out of the box once the above is set and nothing much further is needed so test your game and if it works you can stop reading now.

Some games have specific workarounds check this link to see if your game is listed - http://logmeinwiki.com/wiki/Category:Gaming

B.Cant Ping/ Chat issues

1. Make sure you allow hamachi client through your firewall. UDP/TCP

2. If your firewall allows IP’s through enter your hamachi ip and allow it through for both UDP and TCP

3.Closing a firewall may sometimes resolve your issue but this is not recommended. so configure your client and ip’s through ur firewall properly to avoid security risks . ( if you dont know how to do this just ask )

4.If you use a router you most likely using NAT. In whichcase see next section on configuring NAT. SOMETIMES USERS DONT NEED TO PORT FORWARD SO TRY UP TO STEP 3 AND TRY TO PING EACH OTHER. If still no go read on

————————————————————————————

C.Configuring Routers

1.Next open hamachi preferences ( the little gear icon on the bottom right ) Go to the status tab and select detailed configuration.
Note - If you use a proxy enter it here .

Select UDP PORT under connecting through NAT and put a port number something higher that 45000 usually provides better connections.

Remeber this port and allow and port forward UDP port via ur router.

If you are unsure about portforwarding this is the site to visit as it has Port forwarding for almost every router explained in detail.

D.Can Ping Peer But cant see LAN Game

This is probably the most common issue eveyrone has .. and its really simple to understand why . You have two networks and the game is confused which one to connect to .. so to resolve this follow the steps below

1.run hamachi …

2. Let hamachi connect then disable your normal internet connection and any other network adapters …

3.Leave hamachi network enabled and running let it try to reconect if it tries…

4.start the game then go into the LAN lobby

5.alt - tab back to windows enable your internet go back into the game .. Voila your game shoul be there.

this forces the game to use hamachi as its network adapter ( works for 99 % of the games )

————————————————————————————-

E.If All Else Fails

If none of the above steps have worked for you dont worry theres still a few more things ….

1.Uninstall hamachi from your computer

2.Google hamachi 1.0.1.5 and install it.

3.Configure it as explained above( hamachi 1.0.2 and above seems to have some sort of bug on some systems )

———————————————————————————

F.IPX Games Over Vista

A lot of people think IPX games cant be played over vista. But thanks to some genius we now have a patch ….

http://rapidshare.com/files/89319027/ipx-setup.rar.html

run it reboot and voila u can use the ipx protocol .. now connect hamachi go to lan and play away..

———————————————————————————

G.Lag Issues

If your game lags there are a few things you can try.

1. Get a faster net connection Very Happy

2.Open task manager — > processes ( vista users please click show processors from all users make sure you are in admin mode)

Find hamachi set priority to normal

If you are a dual core / core 2 / qaud core etc user set affinity to use only CPU 0 uncheck all others .

note - You have to do this eveytime you run hamachi unfortunately . if some one knows the sintaxt to add to the hamamchi target to use only one core please let us know this would avoid the hassel of doing this everytime.

Thanks dude!!! I’ll definitely try this later coz I’m having a hard time creating a LAN for NFSMW. If i create the hamachi network they can ping me but I cannot ping them. The same goes when they create the network. If I create the nfsmw server they cannot see the server and if I use Hamachi-MW to create the server the game crashes. I hope this helps me.

  7. 23/12/2008 à 13:38 | #8

Thank you dude, just apply the rule #D. It should works fine.

Still no luck, If I created the network, I cannot ping him but he can ping me. And if he created it, we can ping each other. So I let him create the network and Server. But still I could not see the LAN server. We already change the server.cfg for NFSMW so that his hamachi IP is written. We have already disabled/enable the other network adapters while on LAN lobby, but still couldn’t see the server. And if we use hamachi-MW the game crashes when creating a NFSMW server on LAN lobby.

    Need Help!!!!

BTW, we are using linksys WRT54G.

  9. 24/12/2008 à 20:37 | #10

yeah, no luck at all. Sometimes it’s just fucked up i don’t know why. I tried with a friend to play war3 via hamachi, it doesn’t work at all and i still don’t know why. I can ping him, but i don’t see him.

I’m just thinking hamachi doesn’t work every times, wich every system.
But i’m sure there is a solution to your problem.

I don’t know NFSMW, but can’t you join a game by ip/port ? When i play Supreme commander, i join a game using this method (cuz the game does it), and it works fine, even if i don’t see my friend at all.

  10. 29/12/2008 à 20:07 | #11

Regal - Get lancraft. This will let you see your buddy who is hosting warcraft on hamachi.

Some people need it, and some don’t.

Hi, thanks for this site it is helpful but i still cant fix my problem! I use hamachi for gaming and i can go into my network and see my friends computers and go into there files but i cant go into a game and see there game. I have tried what you have said for step D and it still hasn’t worked.I have disabled my firewall but it still does not work. It was working the other day and i cant think of why it would suddenly not work. Any suggestions?

    Hi
I’ve tried playing GRID over hamachi with a friend but it doesn’t work. He cannot see my created server. I followed “step D” but still no success. We’ve already played age of empires III and left 4 dead. To play age of empires III we needed to create a file that forces the game to use the hamachi ip because losing internet connection before going to lan lobby didn’t work either. So can GRID be forced to use the hamachi ip with an external file or is there anything else I could try? I can ping my friend etc. so I don’t think anything else is the problem.
    thanks anyway

i did all what you said, but when i go to game and lan then it says no servers found

    • 16/01/2009 à 18:58 | #16

you should try with your friend’s ip adress. Sometimes it works with it even if it says no servers found.

Yeah , it seems we all have the same problem. And there is no absolute solution to it. I’ve experienced this while trying to play WC3 the frozen throne but i fixed it with Lancraft (it works perfectly ),however recently I decided to play diablo2LOD with my brother and the same thin occured…and this time I can’t find anything similar to Lancraft!
    Any ideas ???

  17. 21/01/2009 à 00:29 | #20

I think sometimes it just can’t work :x
ye i know that sounds really bad.

    @gheagz
I am sure you are using windows vista…Your game (nfsmw) crashes while using mmw-hamachi to host server because windows doesnt allow the tool administrator privileges.

To resolve this, right click mw-hamachi (in your nfsmw installation directory), and then check the ‘run as administrator’ box in the compatibility tab. This should hopefully solve your problem.

    Hey!

If you have problems pinging, try enabling file sharing + hamachi in ur firewall. Worked for me and my three mates :)

Regarding the ping problem on Vista (when you can ping someone but they can’t).

Vista comes with Norton Antivirus that is very thorough in protection, and by default many of you that have Vista also have Norton AV.

In this case if you go to Norton’s Internet Security Options >Personal Firewall>Program Control and select to Allow Hamachi.exe is not enough.
You have to go to Trust Control (under Program Control) and in the Trusted tab ADD the Hamachi ip of the people on your Hamachi network.

This solved my ping problems on Hamachi.

I’m just curious..isnt setting Hamachi adapter to highest proiority (via Network connections->Advanced->Advanced settings) already does that game tries firstly that adapter and then only my real adapter..?
so that, disabling other adapters and then gamming, then enabling back - is there need for this? if that priority is set..?

got problem, that pings are good, bouth can ping, but in game still cant see each other Hosting games..

and wanted to ask about games, that in LAN requires IP (Stronghold Crusader), cause, if we try to fing LAN games without giving IP, its not working….but if we enter each other Hamachi IP, then we can find and play…just thats for every game? that we must use Hamachi given IP, not ur real IPs?

    thnx for great explain

I found a way to Ping VISTA pc from a XP PC..

    Open an elevated command prompt.
To do this, from the Start menu, right-click Command Prompt, and select Run as administrator.

    Enter:
netsh firewall set icmpsetting 8 enable

Forget hamachi. There is a new free software that works with games and works on vista (and even windows 7) with no additional configuration required. It also features a network browser, it has no network limit etc.
Guys the hamachi troubles era is over. Now there is Tunngle.
